This month’s New Moon occurs on January 20, 2015 at 6:13am Mountain Standard Time. The Moon is in Aquarius, the sign of the Water Bearer. Aquarius is an Air sign, however. The symbolism of the Water Bearer refers to the ability of this sign to contain, or carry, emotion (water) in order to make it work for them intellectually. This can lead to detachment from feelings, but not from passion or purpose. Aquarius is prone to brilliance; most inventors and/or geniuses have strong Aquarian influences. This Aquarius “Super” New Moon is again right at the beginning of the sign, telling us that new things are in store for us. With this Moon in particular we may get flashes of insight about a new project we want to begin, or a new way of living our lives. This New Moon is closer to the Earth, which can help magnify our intention-setting efforts. But wait – Mercury goes retrograde the day after the New Moon, January 21st. Not a good time for starting anything new; however, we can research and plan. Mercury is retrograde until February 11th; during this time we can expect the usual miscommunication. Technology in particular might be buggy this time around – we may wish to wait on purchasing any new technology (including smartphones) as it might not work as expected. On the plus side, the retrograde is a good time to do anything with a “re”: redecorate, rewrite, research, redo, replace, etc. It can also give us a chance to look at things with a new or different perspective. I have also found that if anything is lost during this retrograde, it is usually found again. And exercise patience – there are usually delays with everything during this period, so go with the flow.
Elsewhere in the skies we have, at the New Moon, Uranus with the South Node and Pluto squaring off with both nodes. This can indicate that the changes we are experiencing now have a karmic bend to them. The tendency for anything karmic to feel incredibly intense is definitely at work here. There is destruction along with power and control issues, yet transformation is occurring out of the ashes of negative events. A sense of “Is all this craziness really what we want? We think not. How can we understand? How can we make this better?” is growing. We need to balance the dark with the light; the yin with the yang.
Venus moves into Pisces on the 27th. This is a wonderful time to create! Beauty, spirituality, art, and romance are highlighted during this time; though watch for a tendency to daydream. It is also a good time to catch up on movies. Venus squares off with Saturn on the 30th, reminding us, sometimes the hard way, that good things take time, especially in regard to relationships. There may be a financial reality that reveals itself as well. Mars joins up with Chiron on the 31st, giving energy to the healing of old emotional wounds. This can aid in healing physical illnesses as well. Compassion for the self is a must at this time. Venus joins with Neptune on February 1st, making this an especially good day for art and romance. Practicality is out the window this day; meditation and yoga are a better option.
So let’s set some intentions, keep a sense of wonderment and humor through the darkness, exercise patience and move forward boldly in the moment as the days grow longer and the light continues to return!

Full Moon January 2015 by Jill K.
Full Moon January 2015
This month’s Full Moon occurs on January 4th at 9:53 pm Mountain Standard Time. The Moon is in her home sign of Cancer, highlighting home, security, creativity and intuition. This is a very dynamic Full Moon, however. The Moon here is being challenged and opposed by Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn, respectively. These ongoing conflicts are continuing their work not only in breaking down and transforming that which no longer serves, but also bringing in new, and sometimes radical, changes that encourage us to grow, sometimes in directions we hadn’t considered. Pluto joining the Sun brings in the Sun’s energy, which puts an exclamation point on the already intense goings on. Also challenging this Full Moon are the lunar nodes. These are points in the sky that represent karma and the spiritual journey in our lives. The south lunar node represents where we are coming from, and the north node represents where we are growing into. This adds a layer of intensity and a feeling of “This is really BIG!” into the mix. Maybe because this really *is* big. It’s a chance for us to take a bold, trusting step into the unknown, much like The Fool in the Tarot. New year; new start. Trust your intuition!
Elsewhere in the skies, at the Full Moon Uranus is conjunct the south node, breaking down old, outworn patterns and ways of being, while Pluto is challenging the nodes to transform what is broken and bring fertile ground ready for new ideas. Mars moves into Pisces on the 12th, giving our actions a more compassionate, diffuse flavor. Mars moves on to bump with Saturn late on the 14th; there is potential for tension and discord. On the 19th Venus opposes Jupiter, giving the day a positivity infusion, and Mars joins up with Neptune, causing possible disillusionment, but also potential for creative, compassionate healing. Mercury will be getting ready to go retrograde on the 21st just after the New Moon on the 20th; it’s not unusual to notice some miscommunication a bit beforehand. All in all we have a powerful start to what promises to be a powerful year. Blessings!
Sun Mayhem! By Jill K.
Okay, please watch you communications today. The Sun is rolling over the same planets the Moon did on Monday- I know I can feel this energy, and the urge to let my inner crank run free is very strong! Let’s remember to treat ourselves and others with kindness today, even though we
may not feel like it.
Moon Mayhem! By Jill K.
Good Morning! The Moon meets up with all the big players today – just about twelve hours’ worth of fun! Beginning at 8:57 am MDT, the Moon meets up with Mercury, followed by Uranus, Pluto, and finally Venus, ending at 8:17 pm. It could be quite the moody day, especially with last minute shopping under way. Gift decisions may feel at a standstill until tomorrow when Saturn moves into Sagittarius – the last minute shopper’s “aha!” Anyway, conditions favor relaxing tonight, so if there is a party, go, and if not, take time out and reconnect with you and/or family and loved ones.
Welcome to My Blog!
Welcome! This blog has been a long time coming. I hope you enjoy!
New Moon December 2014
This month’s New Moon occurs on December 21, 2014, at 6:36pm Mountain Standard Time. The remarkable thing about this New Moon is that it occurs just hours after the Winter Solstice (4:03pm MST) and Uranus turning direct (3:45pm). So what does that mean? First of all, the New Moon is in Capricorn. Work and duty are emphasized at this time. It is also a time of contraction; a time of going within. This works very well with the energy of the Winter Solstice, the time of the longest night. The Solstice is a good time to step out of the holiday frenzy and take a moment or two to meditate, breathe, get out in Nature (when feasible) and reconnect with ourselves. It’s amazing what even a short respite can do for our souls! We can then get back to celebrating the return of the Sun, as the days begin to grow longer again. Uranus turning direct at this same time may actually assist with our going within, as electronics have been acting wonky enough, up until this point, for us to want to turn the darn things off. Uranus turning direct can also bring unexpected delays or surprising events, especially as he is still sparring with Pluto. Again, let me state that we may continue to see the same issues come up now that came up the last time these two planets were intimate – the 1960s. On a positive note, Uranus’ energy gives a real boost to everything in the skies at this time. Right along with the Sun and the Moon, Mercury, Pluto, and Venus – that’s five planets – are all relatively close together in Capricorn. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the teacher and taskmaster, so even though it may be The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, there may be times where it doesn’t feel so jolly. The intensity and gravity of so much Saturnian energy can feel depressing. However, Capricorn is an earth sign, which can help us ground. Saturn is also about boundaries – including boundaries to protect against harshness and negativity. Uranus can bring us flashes of insight and humor. So despite the intensity, this New Moon/Solstice time can be an absolutely magical time! We can set new, inspired, innovative (Uranus) goals and intentions (Saturn/Capricorn) for the New (New Moon, Winter Solstice) Year!
Elsewhere in the skies Saturn enters Sagittarius for the first time on the 23rd, where it will be until December of 2017, with a brief pass back into Scorpio from June to September 2015. Saturn in Sagittarius focuses, among other things, on truth and spiritual matters; the deep fears and issues that have been dredged up during the last two years will now be brought into the light for healing. On the 24th, Mercury has a confrontation first with Uranus and then with Pluto; this can cause sudden communication of brutal honesty, if you are celebrating, keep this in mind. And please drive carefully! Mars faces off with Jupiter on January 1st, which can bring about philosophical and political arguments, but can also inspire great enthusiasm for new ways of living – the perfect combination to set physical and spiritual goals into action for the New Year! On January 3rd, the Sun confronts Uranus and Pluto, giving us the urge to break free of the old and transform into the new, supporting the Mars-Jupiter energies from the 1st. So let us move into 2015 with joy and promise, knowing that the difficulties and intense energies are all ultimately working toward bringing us our greater good. Happy Holidays!
